Looking for information on parents of Jacob Meadows, born abt 1750, who was in Carteret County until about 1800. He moved from there to Georgia. I believe his parents may have been James and Mary Meadows who died in Carteret County.

Since this is a 2 yr. old email, hope this gets to you. I have an ancestor, Daniel Meadows, born in Georgia in 1782. Names of parents, who came from N.C. unknown. Supposedly, Meadows family was Scotch-Irish, who came first to Virgiia. After N.C., they settled in Burke Co. Georgia (a burned co.). They were also in adjoining co. of Jefferson Co. Georgia. They are not from the same family as Daniel Meadows of Granville, who came to Ga. about the same time and settled in Greene Co. Georgia. Family name of James was repeated often. His son was James Randall Meadows. Could your Jacob have been in Ga. before 1782 when Daniel was born? A census states that Daniel was definitely born in Ga. in 1782-- so Dad would have had to have been there by then, I would think.
