I am a grandson of Augusta Bailey and son of Shirley Jean Tipton, both of which I have been told have direct roots to Ramseytown, Yancey County, North Carolina. Sadly enough, both grandmother and mother are deceased; Augusta Bailey Tipton (b. 8/11/1911 - d. 8/20/1939) and Shirley Jean Tipton Stout (b. 4/27/1937 - d. 10/4/1978). I have been working on my mother's family line with little to no success. I have been told that Augusta died of TB in a place called Lost Cove, NC where "her people lived." Augusta Bailey had married George W. Tipton in 1934 and I believe they resided in Erwin, Tennessee.
