I am a descendant of Rev. Joel Rivers. Joel and his wife, Rhoda Harwell Rivers, moved from VA to Warren County, NC in 1785 and to Franklin County, NC by 1804. I'm particularly interested in information about their son, Mason H. Rivers (sometimes misread as Moses Rivers).
Thank you

I descend in the Rivers line from William Rivers b. abt 1806 GA d. Lauderdale or Holmes Co., MS after 1880. He m. first my ancestor, unknown name, and had 2 children: Dollie b. 1834 and William A. J. Rivers 1836 in Marengo Co., AL. A relative, schoolmaster John Rivers and wife Eliza?, cared for the children for awhile. William remarried to Mary Jane Ellis and had several children. By 1860 they moved to Meridian, Lauderdale Co., MS.

Are you the lady who said she had a plantation workbook belonging to Joel Rivers which listed a (my?) William Rivers as a worker in the early 1830's in AL? I would sure love to compare notes with you. I have lots on the Rivers but haven't proved the parents of my William. I believe he is related to the Joel Rivers line.

Thank you!

I am also a descendant of Rev. Joel Rivers (buried in Claiborne, Alabama). He was my grandfather, five generations back). I would love to correspond with any of his descendants to compare what information we have on him and his family line here in Alabama. Rev. Joel is buried not far from where I live in a beautiful bend of the Alabama River. I have visited his grave several times. Kay Rivers Paul
