Respectful starting points for Cherokee and other Indigenous ancestry connected to North Carolina.

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is headquartered in western North Carolina (Qualla Boundary / Cherokee). Other Indigenous histories also touch the state: coastal and Piedmont peoples, removal-era movements, and multi-state kin networks. Treat tribal enrollment and community knowledge as distinct from ordinary county probate research.
